black & white years

 //various//

It was a busy weekend, but somewhere in there I managed to see the lovely English film Somers Town - the story of a budding friendship between a ruffian runaway and a young Polish immigrant, and in turn how they both fall for the same girl. The black-and-white film was directed by Shane Meadows, who I now know can be relied upon for critically acclaimed pieces of cinema that really capture the essence of urban English youth culture circa the 1980s. I'm a huge fan of Meadows, having fallen absolutely in love with his 2006 semi-autobiographical film This is England

Oh, definitely see this film if you get the chance. It's a bit weird at times, but its touching story and peculiarity  will stay with you, even if only for a bit.
